Many polymer structures react to solar radiation – particularly in the UV segment.
The CONSTAB developed UV additives primarily make use of two mechanisms to protect the polymers from the effects of insolation. UVA- and UV absorbers protect by absorbing the UV radiation. By converting energy into heat, they prevent damage to the organic materials. The UV-stabilizers, on the other hand, are made of additives that stabilize organic material against the effects of UV radiation.
