Also in medical applications such as face masks, nonwovens find their application and are used worldwide today.<\/p>\n<p>We all use face masks right now as protection against Covid-19 infections consisting of special nonwoven fabrics. The filtration performance is determined by the pore size of the used fabrics but also by the ability of the fibers to attract and hold microscopic particles. This is achieved by electrostatic charging of the fabric.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Therefore, it is crucial that the nonwoven has good electret properties that warrant good uptake and long lasting retention of electrostatic charge.
